About DRJS
DRJS Software & Consulting Ltd is founded and directed by Dr David Slade, an engineer and software builder whose work crosses applied mathematics, industrial modelling, data, architecture and digital product delivery.
How I build
I enjoy problems that live between disciplines: where software must reflect a physical process, a model has to support a real decision, or a product needs both technical credibility and an interface people can trust.
My approach is to understand the mechanism, constraints and users before committing to a solution. I favour visible assumptions, small testable increments and architectures that a future team can operate. The result may be a model, an API, a SaaS product, a technical review or a course, but it should always leave the problem clearer than I found it.
Education
University of Leeds, 2009–2013
Research in numerical simulation of thin liquid films and coating flows, including adaptive time and mesh methods, multigrid techniques and a parallel Navier–Stokes finite-element solver implemented in C++.
Experience
A career spent translating models and systems into tools that support design, operation and better technical decisions.
Building software products, technical resources and consulting services that connect engineering depth to useful delivery.
Developing and applying model-based methods for intelligent processing, manufacturing and operational decision support.
Advanced analytics, modelling and predictive maintenance strategies for smart manufacturing in formulated-product industries.
Model libraries, model-driven design and industrial projects across pharmaceutical, food, consumer-goods and solids-processing applications.
Analysis and development of spray-drying processes using mechanistic and computational modelling.
Numerical simulation of complex free-surface flows using adaptive methods and parallel C++ finite-element software.
What that means for clients
Mechanistic modelling, numerical simulation, statistical learning, Bayesian updating and model validation.
Next.js, React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, APIs, cloud deployment and automation.
Discovery, architecture, option assessment, production readiness and evidence-based decisions.
Technical writing, teaching, stakeholder workshops, design reviews and decision-focused presentations.
