About DRJS

Science, software and the judgement to connect them

DRJS Software & Consulting Ltd is founded and directed by Dr David Slade, an engineer and software builder whose work crosses applied mathematics, industrial modelling, data, architecture and digital product delivery.

How I build

Start with the system, then earn the simplicity

I enjoy problems that live between disciplines: where software must reflect a physical process, a model has to support a real decision, or a product needs both technical credibility and an interface people can trust.

My approach is to understand the mechanism, constraints and users before committing to a solution. I favour visible assumptions, small testable increments and architectures that a future team can operate. The result may be a model, an API, a SaaS product, a technical review or a course, but it should always leave the problem clearer than I found it.

Education

PhD, Mechanical Engineering

University of Leeds, 2009–2013

Research in numerical simulation of thin liquid films and coating flows, including adaptive time and mesh methods, multigrid techniques and a parallel Navier–Stokes finite-element solver implemented in C++.

Background spanning applied mathematics, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering applications.

Experience

Research depth, industrial context and software delivery

A career spent translating models and systems into tools that support design, operation and better technical decisions.
